Chipped Teeth or Broken Teeth Consult Now
Have you chipped or broken your tooth? A minor chip or fracture will not usually cause any pain but if a large piece of your tooth fractures or breaks off, it can cause discomfort and pain. This pain could be constant or may come and go.
There is no way to treat a broken or chipped tooth at home so if you are experiencing pain, discomfort and can feel the sharp edges, it’s important to come see us as soon as possible. This will help prevent you from having long term damage, such as damage to the nerve, which can result in root canal.
Until you come to see us please ensure you do the following:
- Rinse your mouth well with water
- Apply pressure with a piece of gauze or a wet teabag on any bleeding areas for about 10 minutes or until the bleeding stops
- To reduce swelling and pain, apply a cold pack to the cheek or lips over the broken tooth
- Take an over-the-counter pain reliever
